چکیده

In this study, a performance evaluation of an aluminium oxide modified onion skin waste (Al2O3/OSW) for the removal heavy metal ions (Pb2+ and Cd2+) from aqueous solution was investigated under batch mode adsorption. The surface morphology, elemental composition, functional groups, textural characteristics charge as-made Al2O3/OSW adsorbent were examined using SEM, EDX, FTIR, BET area pHpzc techniques, respectively. effects initial cations concentration, contact time, dosage, pH on adsorption Pb2+ Cd2+ onto studied. data obtained evaluated by various isotherm kinetic models. Results showed that maximum percentages 91.23 94.10%, respectively, at optimum dosage 1.4 g, time 180 min 6.0. studies multilayer adsorbate-adsorbent system with dominance chemisorption mechanism. study concluded is viable, cheap very effective alternative removing water/wastewater.

Agricultural waste material as potential adsorbent for sequestering heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions - a review.

Heavy metal remediation of aqueous streams is of special concern due to recalcitrant and persistency of heavy metals in environment. Conventional treatment technologies for the removal of these toxic heavy metals are not economical and further generate huge quantity of toxic chemical sludge. Biosorption is emerging as a potential alternative to the existing conventional technologies for the rem...

Agricultural Waste as Adsorbent for Removal of Chromium (VI) from Aqueous Solution

Background & Aims of the Study: Since the chromium (VI) is a toxic, carcinogenic and non-biodegradable element and can accumulate in the tissues, the presence and release of this element through the effluents is associated with dangerous effects on life cycle. Thus, it should be removed from the effluents. In the present study, biosorption of Cr(VI) from aqueous solutio...

Removal of Lead (II) Ions from Aqueous Solutions onto Activated Carbon Derived from Waste Biomass

The removal of lead (II) ions from aqueous solutions was carried out using an activated carbon prepared from a waste biomass. The effects of various parameters such as pH, contact time, initial concentration of lead (II) ions, and temperature on the adsorption process were investigated. Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis after adsorption reveals the accumulation of lead (II) io...

Evaluation of an Adsorbent Based on Agricultural Waste (Corn Cobs) for Removal of Tyrosine and Phenylalanine from Aqueous Solutions

Adsorption of phenolic amino acids, such as phenylalanine and tyrosine, is quite relevant for the production of protein hydrolysates used as dietary formulations for patients suffering from congenital disorders of amino acid metabolism, such as phenylketonuria. In this study, an adsorbent prepared from corn cobs was evaluated for the removal of tyrosine (Tyr) from both a single component soluti...
